Get Involved with Kawaii Kon!


Volunteering for Kawaii Kon is a great way to be involved! Please read the information below to help you get started.

Departments


Artist Alley

Help run art contests, handle silent auction bids, assist with managing and showing artwork at the live auction.

Dealer’s Room

Ensure the attendee safety in the Dealer’s room. Also work with vendors when needed and assist in selling Kawaii Kon merchandise

Events

Work with panelists and guests to keep events running smoothly. Events staffers help keep the convention on time and help answer questions from attendees and presenters alike.

Manga Library

Monitor our manga collection, keep the library organized and help maintain a relaxing environment for patrons.

Operations

Run the information booth, and help answer any and all attendee questions. Operations staffers may also be called upon to fill gaps in other departments.

Public Safety

Monitor the convention for possible safety concerns. Check prop weapons to make sure they adhere to the Kawaii Kon weapon’s policy and enforce the rules set forth by the convention.

Table Top Gaming

Run tournaments, host games, do demos, and help attendees in the Table Top Gaming room. Ensure that the game library is accounted for and utilized.

Video Gaming

Maintain video games and equipment, assist in running tournaments, and work closely with gamers to create a memorable experience for Kawaii Kon’s gamers.

Technical

Tech crew members work with different departments, mainly events, to assist with A/V needs. Technical background is preferred but not required.

Video Rooms

Prepare equipment and media for the video rooms. Video Room Staffers help keep the Video Rooms on schedule and help contribute to content scheduled.

Departments 18+


The following departments require volunteers to be 18 years and older.

Autographs

Assists with Guest Relations department and ensuring a safe experience for attendees at guests autographs.

Cosplay Cafe

Helping host, serve, and entertain con goers at the cafe in cosplay and helping to organize small events. Training will be given.

Media

The media team captures both photo and video of all the action at Kawaii Kon. To apply, a portfolio is required and will be reviewed for approval.

Guest Relations

Assist our guests during their stay at the convention. Applicants will be screened and interviewed by a manager.

Registration

Be on the front lines to help generate, organize, sell and distribute membership badges to the attendees of Kawaii Kon.

Expectations


  • Crew members are required to volunteer a minimum of 15 hours throughout the 3 day weekend. That’s just 5 hours a day!
  • Crew members must keep in contact with their manager – crew members should inform their manager ahead of time if they will be missing a meeting, and respond to any communications given by their manager.
  • Crew members are required to follow the same weapons policy, code of conduct and other rules set forth by the convention for all attendees. No exceptions
  • You must be over the age of 16 to be a Kawaii Kon Crew member. 16-17 year old applicants will need a Parental Consent Form on file with us by the time of the convention in order to be considered.
  • You will be responsible for covering any travel/expenses/accommodations you require. We do suggest you take advantage of our group rate if you need hotel accommodations.

Application Process


  • Once you’ve applied and submitted your application, your manager will contact you either separately or through the general crew meetings to keep you up to speed on what is expected of you.
  • Once you have applied to be part of crew, first time crew members will need to pay a one-time badge deposit fee of $40. A special link will be e-mailed to you after we receive your application.
    • Your deposit will be refunded during the week following the convention, if you are able to complete your hours by the end of Kon.
